Can a protein boost help rebuild bodies in anorexia recovery?
NCT ID NCT05290285
Summary
This study is testing whether a specific blend of essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein) can help patients with anorexia nervosa gain more healthy muscle mass during their weight restoration treatment. 92 patients receiving intensive hospital therapy will be randomly assigned to receive either the amino acid supplement or a placebo for 13 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in muscle mass, body weight, and psychological symptoms to see if the supplement provides an added benefit.
