NCT ID NCT04099108
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving extra amino acids through a vein and having patients cycle while in bed could prevent muscle loss during the first week in the ICU. Half of the 50 participants received the extra amino acids and cycling, while the other half received standard care. The goal was to see if this combination helps maintain muscle mass in critically ill adults.
