Could a simple IV during dialysis save lives from heart disease?

NCT ID NCT07392697

Summary

This study is testing whether giving amino acids through the dialysis machine can protect the heart and blood vessels of people with kidney failure. Dialysis patients have a very high risk of heart attacks and strokes because their blood vessels become stiff. Researchers think amino acids might block a harmful chemical process that causes this stiffness. About 120 patients will receive either amino acids or a placebo during their dialysis sessions for one year to see if it improves heart health and survival.
