Antioxidant trial aims to tame dangerous COPD Flare-Ups

NCT ID NCT07456176

Summary

This study is testing if adding an antioxidant supplement called Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) to standard hospital care helps people recover from a sudden, severe worsening of COPD symptoms. Researchers will compare two different doses of ALA against a placebo in 75 hospitalized patients to see if it reduces lung inflammation, helps patients stabilize faster, and shortens their hospital stay. The goal is to see if this supplement can help control the disease during these critical flare-ups.
