New shot for rare lung disease could replace IV drips

Summary

This study tests a new under-the-skin injection of Alpha1-Proteinase Inhibitor for adults with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a genetic condition that can damage lungs and liver. About 40 participants will receive either the new weekly shot or the standard weekly IV dose to compare how the body handles the drug and to check for side effects. The goal is to see if the shot works as well as the IV treatment.
