Eczema itch mystery: why a gentle touch can drive you crazy
NCT ID NCT06923202
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at a condition called alloknesia, where light touch—like from clothing or a breeze—triggers itching. Researchers want to find out how common this is in people with atopic dermatitis (eczema) and how it affects their daily lives. About 160 adults with eczema will answer questionnaires about their itching and quality of life. No treatments are being tested; this is purely an observation study.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If this study succeeds, it could help doctors better understand and recognize a common but overlooked symptom in eczema patients, potentially leading to improved care and quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any new drug or therapy, so it cannot directly lead to a cure or new treatment on its own.
