Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a medication called suvorexant, which blocks a brain chemical called orexin, can reduce the urge to drink alcohol. Researchers will measure if 30 adults with alcohol use disorder choose alcohol less often and report lower cravings while staying in a hospital unit. The main goal is to see if findings from animal studies translate to helping people control their drinking.
