New blood index may spot kidney danger in liver patients

NCT ID NCT07452484

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple blood test called the Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII) can help doctors diagnose and predict acute kidney injury (AKI) in people with liver cirrhosis. AKI is a common and serious complication in cirrhosis, but current tests are often unreliable. Researchers will measure SII multiple times in 100 hospitalized adults to see if it can detect kidney problems earlier and guide better treatment.
