Can we predict who needs a tracheostomy? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07315477
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study reviews medical records of 200 adults admitted to the ICU between 2012 and 2025 who needed a breathing tube to protect their airway. The goal is to identify which patients are more likely to need a tracheostomy (a tube placed directly into the windpipe) and whether doing it earlier could help. No new treatments are being tested; the study simply looks back at past cases to learn patterns.
