Which airway device is safer for kids? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07252674

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at two common ways to help children breathe during surgery: a laryngeal mask airway (a soft tube placed in the throat) and an endotracheal tube (a tube placed into the windpipe). Researchers want to see which method causes less stress on the lungs and fewer breathing problems after surgery. About 100 children aged 2-5 will be observed, but the choice of airway device will be made by their doctors as usual—no special treatment is assigned.
