Simple air could fix detached retinas, replace harmful gases

NCT ID NCT07034469

Summary

This UK study aims to find out if using plain air works as well as a special gas to repair a detached retina during surgery. It will involve 150 patients whose retina has detached due to a tear in the upper part. The main goal is to see if the retina stays reattached after one surgery, and if using air allows for a quicker, easier recovery with fewer restrictions.
