Gentler gum cleaning tested to replace painful scraping
NCT ID NCT07344805
Summary
This study tested if a gentler air-polishing device using a sugar alcohol powder works as well as traditional deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) for maintaining gum health. It involved 20 patients with treated gum disease, comparing how well each method reduced gum problems, changed mouth bacteria, and affected patient comfort and treatment time. The goal was to find a less damaging and more comfortable way to manage gum disease long-term.
