New device aims to pinpoint problem air leaks after surgery

NCT ID NCT07105436

Summary

This study is testing a device called the Thopaz+ system to see if it can better measure air leaks that sometimes happen after lung surgery. The device connects to a patient's chest tube to give doctors a more precise, number-based reading of the leak, instead of relying on visual estimates. Researchers hope this clearer information will help doctors make better decisions about treatments, like placing special valves, which could help patients recover faster and leave the hospital sooner.
