New drug combo tested to control rare blood disorder
NCT ID NCT07518277
First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aims to see if adding the drug sirolimus to standard steroid treatment works better than steroids alone for adults newly diagnosed with a mild form of autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), where the immune system attacks red blood cells. About 216 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the two-drug combination or just steroids, and their health will be tracked for two years. The main goal is to see if more people in the combination group can stop steroids and keep their disease under control after one year.
