AI vs. deadly hospital blood clots: vanderbilt launches major trial
NCT ID NCT06939803
Summary
This study is testing a new AI tool designed to prevent dangerous blood clots that form in hospitalized patients, which are a leading cause of death and disability. Over 2,200 patients at Vanderbilt hospitals will be randomly assigned to either receive prevention suggestions from the AI tool or continue with the current standard manual method. The goal is to see if the AI can more effectively identify high-risk patients and prompt doctors to start preventive treatments, thereby reducing the number of clots.
