AI takes on hospital blood clots: a new weapon against a leading cause of death
NCT ID NCT06939803
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tests an AI tool that predicts which hospitalized patients are at risk for blood clots, a leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals. The AI automatically suggests prevention measures for those who need them, without requiring extra work from doctors. About 2,200 adults admitted to four hospitals will be randomly assigned to either AI-guided care or the usual manual risk assessment. The goal is to see if the AI reduces the number of hospital-acquired blood clots.
