AI steps in to help spot blindness risk in preemies

NCT ID NCT06109285

Summary

This study is testing a computer program (AI) called i-ROP DL to see if it helps eye doctors diagnose a serious condition called 'plus disease' in premature babies. Sixteen eye doctors will review about 300 sets of baby eye images, first on their own and then with the AI's help, to see which method is more accurate. The goal is to improve the speed and reliability of diagnosis during remote eye exams to prevent blindness.
