AI as a coach for caregivers: a new test of support and strength
NCT ID NCT07799389
First seen Sep 02, 2026 · Last updated Sep 03, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests a six-week, nurse-led support program for people caring for a loved one in palliative care. The program uses generative AI to tailor guidance on stress, coping, and self-care, with nurses supervising the content. Researchers will compare caregivers who receive this program with those getting routine care to see if it improves their readiness to care and their psychological resilience.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A six-week nurse-led psychosocial support program that uses generative AI as a supervised tool to personalize guidance for caregivers.
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this program could offer a practical way to help family caregivers feel more prepared and emotionally strong while caring for a loved one in palliative care.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small and early, so results may not apply to all caregivers. The AI tool is new and requires careful oversight, and the program's success depends on how well it fits each person's needs.
