AI eye scanner for preemies aims to cut stressful exams

NCT ID NCT06517836

Summary

This study tested an automated software system called i-ROP DL. Its purpose was to see if it could accurately identify serious eye disease in premature babies by analyzing photos of their retinas. The goal is to create a screening tool so that only babies flagged by the AI would need a full, stressful eye exam by a specialist, potentially reducing unnecessary procedures.
