AI watches surgery to predict Cancer's next move

NCT ID NCT07391514

Summary

This study tested whether a computer program (using deep learning) could predict if thyroid cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes during surgery. Researchers analyzed videos from 131 patients' operations, where special dyes were used to highlight the lymph system. The goal was to see if this AI analysis could help surgeons make better decisions about how much tissue to remove, potentially reducing unnecessary surgery or leaving cancer behind.
