AI steps in to predict and prevent painful swelling for breast cancer patients

Summary
This study is testing whether an artificial intelligence (AI) tool can help patients and doctors make better decisions about breast cancer radiotherapy. The AI provides a personalized prediction of a patient's risk of developing arm swelling (lymphedema), a common and uncomfortable side effect. Over 700 patients will be randomly assigned to either see their AI-predicted risk or not, to see if this information changes treatment choices and improves outcomes over two years.
