AI steps into the operating room: can a computer help your surgeon make better decisions?

Summary
This study is testing whether an artificial intelligence (AI) tool can help surgeons better plan care for people having surgery for colorectal cancer. About 1200 patients in Denmark will be randomly assigned to have their surgical risk assessed either by a surgeon alone or by a surgeon using the AI tool. The goal is to see if the AI helps match patients to the right level of pre- and post-surgery care, which could lead to fewer complications and more efficient use of hospital resources.
