Summary

This study compares three ways of interpreting echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds): one where AI pre-reads the images, one where a sonographer pre-reads them, and one where cardiologists do all the work. The goal is to see if the AI-assisted method is just as accurate but faster and more consistent. About 1,200 adults with existing heart ultrasound images will take part. The results could help decide if AI should be used routinely to help doctors interpret these tests.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

AI software for echocardiogram interpretation

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that AI-assisted reading of heart ultrasounds is as accurate as current methods, potentially saving cardiologist time and reducing variability in reports.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage, non-treatment trial focused on workflow efficiency, not patient outcomes. The AI may not prove superior or could introduce errors in certain cases.
