First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested how well an artificial intelligence (AI) model can find a rare variation of a nerve in the jawbone (bifid mandibular canal) on dental CT scans. Researchers used 117 existing scans from Egyptian patients aged 15 and older. The goal was to see if the AI could match expert dentists in spotting this nerve, which is important to avoid injury during dental surgeries.
