AI could replace risky blood pressure catheters in surgery

NCT ID NCT06915376

Summary

This study tested a new, noninvasive way to continuously monitor blood pressure during surgery. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze signals from a standard finger clip (pulse oximeter) and heart monitor stickers (ECG). Researchers compared this new method to the current invasive standard, which requires inserting a catheter into an artery and carries risks like bleeding and infection. The goal was to see if the AI method could be accurate enough to reduce the need for invasive monitoring in some patients.
