First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether an artificial intelligence system (CADe) could help doctors find more polyps during colonoscopy in people returning for a follow-up screening. Over 1,100 adults were randomly assigned to either a standard colonoscopy or one assisted by AI. The main goal was to see if the AI group had a higher rate of detecting adenomas (precancerous polyps).
