AI app aims to clean up colonoscopy prep

NCT ID NCT07453056

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether an AI-powered app can help people clean their bowels better before a colonoscopy. Poor bowel prep can cause doctors to miss polyps or cancer. The app gives real-time feedback on stool appearance. 340 adults will be randomly assigned to use the app or just get standard instructions.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

AI-driven stool identifying system (AI-SIS) app

What this could lead to

If it works, this could make colonoscopies more accurate by helping patients prepare better, leading to fewer missed polyps and cancers.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study. The AI app may not improve bowel cleanliness significantly, and results may not apply to all patients.
