Targeted chemo infusion plus immunotherapy shows promise for tough liver cancer
NCT ID NCT07282509
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This clinical trial is testing a new approach for people with advanced liver cancer whose first treatment stopped working. The study combines a targeted chemotherapy infusion (paclitaxel liposome) delivered directly into the liver artery with systemic drugs like immunotherapy and a targeted pill. About 116 participants will be enrolled to see if this combination is safe and effective at shrinking tumors and improving survival.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
paclitaxel cationic liposome (HA131) infused into the liver artery, plus enlonstobart or pembrolizumab (immunotherapy) and lenvatinib (targeted therapy)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new second-line treatment option for people with advanced liver cancer, potentially shrinking tumors and extending survival.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial (Ib/II) with only 116 participants, so results are preliminary. The combination therapy may cause significant side effects, and the benefit over existing treatments is not yet proven.
