First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding toothbrushing and oral gel to standard mouthwash can prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in ICU patients. 100 adults on breathing machines were randomly assigned to get either extra oral care or standard care alone. The goal was to see if the extra care lowers pneumonia rates, reduces ICU stays, and improves survival.
