Prison study tests if ADHD treatment cuts repeat offenses
NCT ID NCT05842330
Summary
This study tests whether treating ADHD with medication during prison stays helps reduce core symptoms and rule-breaking behavior. 150 incarcerated adults with ADHD will receive either the ADHD medication OROS-methylphenidate or a placebo for three months, plus counseling. Researchers will track ADHD symptoms, disciplinary incidents in prison, and rule-breaking after release to see if treatment makes a difference.
