New study hopes to predict dangerous pregnancy complication with simple blood test
NCT ID NCT04319341
First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at 513 pregnant women with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (oAPS) to see if measuring a protein called ADAMTS13 early in pregnancy could help predict preeclampsia, a serious condition involving high blood pressure. Researchers measured ADAMTS13 levels in stored blood samples taken at the time of a positive pregnancy test. The goal was to see if these levels were linked to later development of preeclampsia or related complications.
