Ancient needles meet modern medicine in race to save hearing

Summary
This study is testing if adding traditional Chinese acupuncture to standard steroid treatment helps people recover better from sudden hearing loss. It will enroll 64 adults who recently lost their hearing and randomly assign them to receive either steroids alone or steroids plus acupuncture for four weeks. Researchers will measure changes in hearing, dizziness, and ringing in the ears to see which approach works best.
