Needles vs. placebo: can ancient practice ease modern nerve pain?

NCT ID NCT07150234

Summary

This study aims to see if acupuncture safely reduces pain and improves function in adults with chronic neck pain that shoots down the arm (cervical radiculopathy). Researchers will compare real acupuncture to a fake (sham) version in 168 participants over 6 weeks of treatment, tracking pain levels, disability, sleep, and mood for up to 6 months afterward. The goal is to determine if the benefits are due to the specific acupuncture technique or general placebo effects.
