Ancient needles meet modern heart surgery: can acupuncture ease recovery?
NCT ID NCT06110780
Summary
This study investigated whether a form of acupuncture using mild electrical stimulation (electroacupuncture) could help protect the heart and reduce inflammation in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. It involved 104 patients who were randomly assigned to receive either the acupuncture treatment before surgery or no acupuncture. Researchers measured markers of heart injury and inflammation to see if the treatment made a difference in recovery.
