Zap to nap: can electrical acupoint stimulation help seniors sleep better after surgery?

NCT ID NCT06684236

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle, non-invasive electrical stimulation applied to specific acupoints on the skin could help improve sleep for older adults after abdominal surgery. Researchers enrolled 104 patients aged 65 and over to see if this technique could increase total sleep time and reduce insomnia symptoms in the first critical nights of recovery. The goal was to find a safe, drug-free way to support healing by promoting better rest.
