First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at whether taking activated charcoal can affect certain blood test results. Eight healthy adults will take a dose of charcoal and have their blood drawn over several hours. The goal is to see if charcoal changes the osmolal gap or causes a false positive for ethylene glycol, a toxic substance. This is an observational study, not a treatment.
