New knee surgery aims to reduce pain for injured athletes

NCT ID NCT07475351

Summary

This study is comparing two different surgical techniques for repairing a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in the knee. It aims to see if a newer technique that uses a smaller piece of the patient's own patellar tendon causes less pain at the donor site while still providing the same strong, stable results as the traditional 'gold standard' method. Researchers will follow 110 competitive athletes for two years after surgery to measure their recovery, knee function, and pain levels.
