Amniotic membrane injection may ease stubborn achilles pain

NCT ID NCT06172218

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether an injection made from donated amniotic membrane (the tissue that surrounds a baby in the womb) can help people with chronic Achilles tendon pain that hasn't improved with standard treatments like physical therapy. Twenty adults with long-term Achilles tendinopathy received either the injection or standard care. The goal was to measure pain reduction and function changes, and the results will help design a larger study.
