NCT ID NCT07312097
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether treating a torn Achilles tendon without surgery works as well as surgery. Forty patients with a recent, complete tear were randomly assigned to either a non-surgical rehab program or open surgery. The results showed that both groups had similar strength, tendon length, and recovery scores, and the non-surgical group had fewer wound problems. This suggests that for many people, avoiding surgery and following a structured rehab plan is a safe and effective option.
