Heart rhythm fix under the microscope: Abbott's ablation study tracks 200 patients

NCT ID NCT05434650

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study follows 200 people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) to see how well a catheter-based treatment called radiofrequency ablation works over time. The treatment uses a special catheter to zap tiny areas in the heart that cause the faulty signals. Researchers are checking if the heart stays in normal rhythm for at least a year after the procedure, and watching for any serious side effects like stroke or heart damage. The goal is to confirm the treatment is safe and effective in real-world use.
