One shot, six protections: new combo vaccine for infants shows promise

NCT ID NCT04429295

Summary

This study tested a new combination vaccine (Shan6™) designed to protect infants against six serious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, Hib, and polio. It involved 460 healthy infants and toddlers in Thailand to see if the new vaccine worked as well as the standard separate vaccines when given alongside other routine childhood shots. The main goal was to confirm the new vaccine provides similar protection while potentially reducing the number of injections a baby needs.
