New pill targets rare cancer gene in early trial
NCT ID NCT06378593
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests an experimental oral drug called 3HP-2827 in people with advanced solid tumors that have specific changes in the FGFR2 gene. The trial has two parts: first, finding the safest dose, then testing how well it shrinks tumors. About 130 adults with cancers that cannot be surgically removed or have spread will participate.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
3HP-2827 (an oral drug that targets FGFR2 alterations in cancer cells)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new targeted treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors that have specific FGFR2 genetic changes.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1/2) with only 130 participants, so the drug may not prove effective or safe enough for wider use. Side effects are still being identified.
