3D-Printed jaw models help surgeons rebuild faces more consistently
NCT ID NCT07365085
First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested two ways of using 3D-printed models to help rebuild the lower jaw after tumor removal. Surgeons took bone from the lower leg and shaped it to fit the jaw. One method used a full model of the healthy jaw, while the other used a model cut into segments. Both worked, but the segmented model gave more even facial symmetry. The study involved 36 people and was done at a single hospital.
