Summary
This study tested a new method for repairing broken jawbones using a custom 3D-printed guide and plate, designed from a patient's own CT scan. 24 adults with a specific type of jaw fracture were randomly assigned to get either the new custom device or standard surgery. The goal was to see if the custom approach could better realign the broken bone pieces and restore proper bite, potentially reducing complications compared to the usual technique.
