One stitch or none? new study aims to cut hernia pain

NCT ID NCT06879860

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using one stitch to hold a 3D patch in place during hernia repair leads to less long-term pain and fewer hernias coming back compared to using no stitch. About 150 adults with a moderate-to-large first-time inguinal hernia will take part. Researchers will check for pain and recurrence up to a year after surgery.
