First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests whether a supplement called 2-HOBA can improve the function of HDL (good cholesterol) in people with familial hypercholesterolemia, a genetic condition that causes very high cholesterol and heart disease risk. Researchers will give 72 participants either 2-HOBA or a placebo for 6 weeks and measure changes in cholesterol function. The goal is to see if 2-HOBA can reduce harmful modifications to cholesterol particles.
