First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at whether family therapy, given while a person is being treated for advanced cancer, helps families communicate and support each other during and after the loss. 700 patients and their family members took part. Some families received standard care, while others had 6 or 10 therapy sessions. The goal was to see if therapy could prevent depression and improve coping during bereavement.
